12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

I love the rich woodgrain with the pear green color that Valeska used on her rustic layout! This is so charming with knitted pattern paper, vintage camera, clocks, cards and typewriter embellishments, frames and lots of soft florals. Everything is layered with some items popped up and even stencil paste for depth and texture. I spotted her idea on the Mintay Papers Instagram page.

You’ve probably seen the term “Rustic” used as a description, crafting trends tend to follow trends in other areas and simple rustic charm has been popular for awhile now, especially in scrapbooking. Think of things like woodgrains, rusty metal, country farm houses, pastoral landscapes, cozy cabins, woodland scenes and handmade quilts and you’ve got rustic design. The upcoming Fall season is a great time to use this style for your scrapbook layouts so I thought today I’d share some current ideas with rustic appeal.

Rustic even works for weddings like Becki used here. She included a wavy green plaid pattern paper across the center, over the woodgrain paper with some lace and stitching for a fabulous background. Of course you need white flowers with pops of green for a wedding and a sweet sentiment for the title with a few small hearts and butterflies too. Find the sketch that inspired her design on the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.

Lisa’s amazing layout started with a detailed rustic pattern paper base with vintage newsprint and rusty edges. On top she added die cut white gears, lots of vintage looking tags, tickets and frames, corrugated cardboard, acetate and real metal gears, leaving space in the center for a large photo. Check out her step by step directions at the Uniquely Creative blog.

Julie’s darling ducky layout is in an “L” shape with most of the action in one corner of the page. Her rustic details include chipboard elements, real stitched buttons, wooden embellishments, lacey flowers, realistic looking dried leaves and vintage inspired tabs and tickets. The thick acrylic title adds additional depth to the design as well. She breaks it all down at the Bramble Fox blog.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

The first PSL (pumpkin spiced latte) of the Fall season is a reason to celebrate like on this sweet digital design. Woodgrain paper along the top has lots of “torn” pattern papers below to add texture. There’s typed journaling and the pumpkin and floral embellishments look so dimensional but aren’t, it’s amazing how far digital scrapbooking has come! This collection is from Sweet Shoppe Designs.

Mady added country charm to her Traveler’s Notebook layouts with torn pattern paper that look like vintage quilting fabrics. Torn washi tape holds down the Polaroid photos with a tag pocket for the journaling and a few stickers thrown in for good measure. Take a closer peek at the Cocoa Daisy blog.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Vicki and Amy’s darling dapper baby boy layout is actually on a black canvas for a home decor project. There’s vintage looking book paper for the background, a layer of burlap, cheese cloth and then the sepia toned photo on top. It’s embellished with layered flowers, lace trim, rhinestones, a clock face and more. Find step by step directions at the Canary Street Crafts blog.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Julie’s delicious coffee layout has such rich brown colors with subtle stenciling on pattern paper for a spilt coffee feel with three long vertical die cut words to offset the row of photos. There’s also lots of coffee embellishments like a fabric mug patch, labels, tags, and tabs. Learn more at the 49th and Market Instagram page.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Yes, pastels can work on a rustic layout too like this stunning design from Kirei. Her pastel blue background looks like a vintage ledger page and each photo is on a clipboard embellishment. She’s included country accents like fabric hearts, classic roses, metal buttons, sweet sentiment strips and hand written journaling. Take a closer look at the Hey Little Magpie blog.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Rhonda’s fabulous fishing layout has a cool background created with Shimmerz Paints, texture paste, some stamping and splatter too. The outdoor embellishments in rich browns and greens, brown typed journaling, thread and die cut custom title all add to the rustic feel. I came across her idea in her Rhonda Scrapbooks gallery at Scrapbook.com.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Moria’s darling doggy layout has 4 wide fish tail cut from rustic styled pattern papers that work so nicely together and are tied with twine. There’s some stenciling on the background too with chipboard stars and words scattered around with some metal button accents as well. I spotted this in her Mooreilly Instagram page.

12 Rustic Scrapbooking Layout Ideas

Here’s another wonderful example of a rustic layout with pastel colors. Jackie used lots of quilt inspired pattern papers, real lace and a tag to form her vertical center border. The background has splatter and rings, some stitched and some die cut, along with tiny domed hearts. There’s also a fun torn vellum pocket to hold an extra photo strip. Learn more at the Paige Taylor Evans blog.

I hope you’ll give this popular rustic style a try on some of your upcoming scrapbook layouts.
