If you’re anything like me, you can never have too many washi tape designs. I swear I print a sheet, use half of it in a junk journal spread, and then immediately think… “Oh I wish I had that in sage green instead.”
So today I’m sharing a brand new set of Free Printable Washi Tape Designs, inspired by all those layered, collage-style sheets we love — but created fresh, in soft modern colours that work beautifully for cardmaking, scrapbooking, planners, and junk journals.
These are clean, A4 printables on a solid white background, designed at 300 DPI for crisp, high-quality printing. No muddy colours. No fuzzy edges. Just gorgeous, ready-to-cut tape strips that look like the real thing.

How to Print Your Washi Tape Sheets
For best results:
- Print on high-quality matte paper for a realistic paper-tape look
• Use lightweight cardstock if you want sturdier strips
• Try sticker paper if you want peel-and-stick functionality
• Set your printer to “Best” or 300 DPI
• Make sure scaling is set to 100% (no fit-to-page shrinking)
If you’re like me and you love that slightly translucent washi look, you can even print on thin vellum for a softer layered effect.
How to Use Printable Washi Tape in Craft Projects
One of my favourite tricks is to slightly distress the edges after cutting. Gently tear the ends instead of trimming straight across. It instantly gives that authentic washi tape feel.
You can also:
- Ink the edges lightly with a coordinating Distress Ink
• Layer narrow strips over wider ones
• Angle them across corners of photos
• Use them as faux tabs on scrapbook pages
• Create “taped” photo corners
For junk journaling, I love overlapping three different widths in the same colour family. It gives that curated, collected look without overwhelming your page.
Why Printable Washi Tape is a Game-Changer
Real washi tape is addictive (and expensive). Printable washi gives you unlimited access to your favourite colour palettes without hunting through drawers or buying more rolls.
Plus, when you’re creating cohesive scrapbook layouts or planner spreads, being able to print matching strips in the exact tones you need? Absolute heaven.
And because these are high-resolution 300 DPI files, they hold up beautifully even when trimmed into tiny pieces.
Creative Ideas to Try
- Make a layered birthday card using three coordinating strips behind a sentiment
• Create faux “taped down” ephemera in a junk journal
• Use narrow striped pieces as borders on a scrapbook layout
• Print twice and create dimensional layering
• Add clear tape over the top for a glossy washi effect
You can mix this sheet with other free printables from CraftGossip to build your own cohesive craft kit. I love keeping a little folder of pre-cut strips ready to grab when I’m mid-project and don’t want to stop and print again.
