When I was a kid, I jumped a lot of rope on the playground. We had a song for everything it seemed although, I would be hard pressed to remember all the words to any one of them now. All I know is, if I tried to jump rope now, not only would I most likely break something but, the ropes would be a tangled mess. Yeah, it would be YouTube worthy I suppose but, a video like that could very well haunt my children when they get older. Some things are just left better in our memories than trying to play out there in the open in some wonky way of recovering our youth.
So, preparing for today’s convention (Heirloom Stamp Convention in Novi Michigan), I found an old Chinese jump rope and giggled that it was a bungie holding my cases together rather than a play toy. As I bundled up my supplies, I started thinking about the fact that some of my coolest “art” supplies were actually repurposed loverlies from around our house. A Chinese jump rope, a matchbox car case, fruity smelling gum erasers to guard the tips of my crafting knives, a spatula, wash clothes for texture, bamboo skewers and even a handful of straws I used for Embossing Powder scoops. Our youth never leaves us I suppose, it just manages to show up in random places of our lives later on in unexpected ways.
I just love this belt buckle from Maxine Dear over on Etsy
