If you’re looking for a quick way to add more dimension to your scrapbook layouts try adding layers. You can layer up cardstock, pattern papers, embellishments, die cuts or a mix of all of them for added depth, it’s such a simple way to add more interest to a design. Today we’ll take a look at pages that include lots of layers to inspire you to give this easy idea a try.

Brianna created amazing long layered borders in between each long photo on this sweet design. Strips of pattern paper, chipboard elements and printed dies are stacked and stapled to create so much depth and there’s great movement too from die cut butterflies. Watch her process video at the Scrapbook and Cards Today blog.

This stunning travel layout from Karola is so pretty she framed it. Overtop of the map pattern paper are layer upon layer of beautiful embellishments, the photo is offset so it draws the eye to one side and it still stands out from all the accents. Notice how she also tucked in lots of sentiments too which also move the eye around the design. I spotted this on the Mintay Papers Instagram page.

Jessica used a wonderful mix of items for all her layers on this cute Disney design. There’s items like die cut film strips, distressed pattern paper, gathered ribbon, printed tickets, felt embellishments and sewn on tabs. Take a closer peek at the Kerri Bradford blog.

Traci used beautiful floral pattern papers for her lovely layered layout. Having smaller and larger prints help balance the design and notice how she popped up and curled some paper edges, this also adds additional dimension too. Find more info at the Cocoa Daisy blog.

So, layers don’t have to cover an entire layout, here Sophie added a small border of torn pattern papers in layers along the bottom for color and texture too. She also layered her large open die cut flowers, backed with pattern papers with fussy cut Daisies on top. Take a closer look at the Paige Taylor Evans blog.

An easy way to begin layering is with simple shapes like Jinny did with circles on this darling page. The photos are cut into circle with round pattern paper mattes behind them. There’s also a background layer with watercolor, stamps and splatter and tons of embellishments layered over the entire design. She breaks it all down at the My Creative Scrapbook blog.

Valeska’s layered layout has several types of elements from rub-ons, chipboard, printed die cuts and acetate all layered up for a pretty bouquet of flowers and butterflies. I like how there’s a lot of layers under the photo and they sort of scatter off away to one side, it adds such nice movement! There’s more details at the 49th and Market blog
