12 Scrapbook Layouts with Rainbows of Color
Brianna created an amazing rainbow wreath with colors of ink splattered on the background, layering die cut pattern paper clouds and coordinating colors of embellishments over top. She stitched the wreath together and also added clusters of colored threads for great texture too. Learn more at the Doodlebug blog.
With Spring here we’re starting to get some showers which of course means rainbows too! Rainbows are a wonderful addition to St. Patrick’s Day, Easter and Spring scrapbook layout ideas. You can create a traditional arched rainbow shape or just use rainbows of color throughout the design, you can use different hues like pastels, rich bold colors, bright neon or traditional primary. It’s a simple way to add lots of color and luck to your ideas. So, let’s look at some fabulous ways to incorporate rainbows into scrapbook layouts for a bit of inspiration.
Valerie used a cut file of a paintbrush painting a rainbow over clouds to fill her pretty page. Inside the white outline she used rainbow striped pattern papers with rainbow inking along the top and rainbow letter stickers for the title too. Take a closer look at the Paige Taylor Evans blog.
I love this unique layout from Kerstin! She created a wide border from a rainbow sunburst paper, popping it up at the top of the page. She then fussy cut the “bursts”, placing them under the border like pointy pennants, adding tiny color matching embellishments to each. Learn more at the Pinkfresh Studio blog.
Connie created a large title die cut from rainbow striped pattern paper for her playful layout. All the other words and embellishments stick with the same color scheme as well as the number paper background. She added dimension too with chipboard and puffy accents and texture with some stitching. Find all the details at the Bella Blvd. blog.
This pretty pastel rainbow page from Michele has a rainbow pattern paper border with a layered die cut rainbow made with fun shapes and some clouds. There’s also a stenciled cloud background, a title tag and a sun shining in the corner. I spotted her idea on the Keep it Simple Instagram page.
This yummy Macaron layout from Reiko looks good enough to eat! She created wide watercolor lines across the white background adding die cut cookies cut from similar colors of cardstock stacked at the edge. A die cut title and tiny enamel dots finish off the design. Find all the info at the Altenew blog.
Allison loves to include stitching on her layouts and this amazing rainbow design really shows her amazing skills! She used a standard stitch for the outline of each “beam” and then crisscrossed a free hand pattern to fill them in. There’s even more sewing around the die cut clouds at each end too. I spotted this at Scrapbook and Cards Today.
This darling dog layout from Cassie has large colorful splashes of alcohol inks smooshed onto acetate for a dynamic background. There’s also some stamping, die cut tags with twine, colorful sentiment strips and small enamel shapes too. Learn more at Paper Issues.
This fun and festive St. Patrick’s Day layout from Ali has lots of green but also a few rainbows scattered in with one over a title, one in the photos and rainbow plaid pattern paper as well. I love the border she designed with smaller photos for the look of a film strip. Take a closer peek at the Scrapbook Adhesives blog.
This amazing mixed media layout from Jessica has the word Rainbow right in the title, created with a colorful array of foils. There’s also white gesso painted onto the textured background with some watercolor powders added over that. I love how she turned her photos into tags! Watch her process video on the Therm O Web blog.
Ashley created a pretty pastel rainbow title by die cutting “HAPPY” letters out of wide strips of pattern papers, adding a gold die cut “birthday” too. Inside each letter are colorful gems and tiny die cut confetti. And even with this large title there’s plenty of room for lots of photos up top. Find out more at The Cherry on Top blog.
This darling design from Vicki uses muted colors of pattern papers cut with scalloped edges and layered up the page. Each color layer has birds or butterflies that matches that color along with tiny sentiment strips. I came across her idea on her Vicki Scraps Instagram page.
I hope you have a chance to spot a rainbow and use some of that luck to create beautiful, colorful layouts!
