Paige took it to the next level filling and over lapping her scallops down more than one half of her page. She used a border punch and different pattern papers for her scallops and notice how she created a rainbow ombre’ pattern going down. Adding fussy cut flowers helps give the eye a place to rest. Learn more at the Paige Taylor Evans blog.

Scallops have been a staple in scrapbooking since the beginning. I think it probably started with the cool edged scissors and long border punches that allowed us to have something more interesting than just a straight simple edge and they really do help add more texture and shape in a simple easy way. Scallops and lacy edges remain popular but have leveled up with new and fun ways to continue to incorporate them in designs. Let’s take a look at some recent scrapbooking ideas using lacy, scalloped designs.

The scallops in Celes’ design aren’t too prominent, just part of the over all look on a layout made mostly with chipboard embellishments. She used a “shelf” style with three rows in a rainbow of colors along the rows, clustered in coordinating colors, adding black and white photos along the way. Learn more at the Simple Stories blog.

Colleen added a fun folio onto one of her pages including pretty black lace ribbon along two sides. This adds such a sweet touch with a hint of vintage to the bold floral print. Just a bit of lace can really add so much softness to a design. Learn how to create this folio at A Cherry on Top blog.

Sam’s layout has both scalloped pattern paper and lace on the border with a half circle off to the side. There’s some stenciling on the background, distressed edges on the papers and including the floral lace ribbon, fabric, metal and chipboard accents all adds depth and dimension as well as texture to her design. Take a closer peek at the Hey Little Magpie blog.

Scallops don’t have to just be for edges and borders there are lots of scalloped shaped punches and dies to use too. This pretty layout uses scalloped circles cut from pattern papers and cardstock for a lovely Spring layout with florals and bows added too. I spotted this idea on the Echo Park Paper Instagram page.

Angelica created an amazing embellishment by layering lacy scallops and stitching them together on one end to form a short border on her beautiful baby page. The lace, flowers, butterflies, stitching, soft pastel colors and tiny hearts are so sweet together! I saw her layout on the Hip Kit Club Instagram page.

LeAnna used border punches for her cool custom border that has small scalloped edges and a large lacy scalloped floral design down the center. Some of the pattern paper also has wavy lines which is a nice way to tie the entire page together. Find the sketch (and several others) she used at the Creative Memories blog.

Don’t have scalloped supplies, don’t worry, do what Shanel did here and slightly over lap circles to create a custom scallop border around the inside of a large frame. Notice how the flowers are also scalloped, it ties the layout all together perfectly. I came across her page on the Hip Kit Club Instagram page.

Traci used her computer and photo editing software to create her own fun scalloped photo matts. She actually merged two round scallops together and even changed the color and pattern to print and cut. They work perfectly with her double page layout for a truly custom idea. Find her directions on the Traci Reed Designs blog.

Allison created an all over scalloped background die cut with her Silhouette from a rainbow of pattern papers, she kept the prints small so they don’t overwhelm the design. She also took them a step further by stitching around the edge of each scalloped strip with coordinating colors of thread. Find all the details at the Allison Davis 4SG blog.

Nathalie added overlapping scalloped circles down the center of her layout, all die cut from the same collection of pattern papers. She changed it up a bit by adding different colored circle inside each one as well as adding her photo in one as well. I love the touches of copper foiling all around too! Take a closer look at the Doodlebug blog.

Andrea used scalloped matt dies, pastel cardstocks and animal pattern papers for this adorable baby layout. The lacy scalloped matts are perfect for baby photos and she even used scalloped corners and buttons on her journaling cards too. Find directions on the Mosaic Moments blog.

I hope you’ve been inspired to include some lace and/or scallops on your next scrapbook layout!
