With the brand new Better Press system from Spellbinders an old printing type of technique is making a big come back. Letterpress is sort of like a combination of stamping and embossing only in this case it’s a de-boss.
You ink up a plate with an oil based ink, applied with a brayer or an ink pad, then roll the plate and paper on a special platform through a manual die cutting machine that will impresses the image onto cotton paper along with the ink. In other words it stamps and presses into the paper at the same time. You can then treat that image like you would a stamp and color it in if desired.
This pretty double sided Traveler’s Notebook pages have letterpress flowers that have been beautifully water colored as well as a letterpress title too.
You can find more info and a process video over on The Cherry on Top blog.
