Pursuit is a great word. Will Smith in the Pursuit of Happyness had a wonderful quote ….
“It was right then that I started thinking about Thomas Jefferson on the Declaration of Independence and the part about our right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I remember thinking how did he know to put the pursuit part in there? That maybe happiness is something that we can only pursue and maybe we can actually never have it. No matter what. How did he know that?”
Now, I love this quote on so many levels. Perhaps it is because I actually saw the financial advisor this movie is based on (he was passing by in the hallway with a cup of coffee) and heard his story throughout my own advisor training way back when and, it is just as inspirational today as it was when I first heard it…maybe. Maybe it is because it goes deeper than that. The stuff we are given in life we tend to take for granted. It is the stuff we chase after, have to work hard for and, actually pursue, that we truly appreciate. We are not entitled to Happiness, we are entitled to chase it.
So, what does this have to do with Scrapbooking? Well, the Designer types from the Paper Salon DT created this lovely blog called the Pursuit of Craftyness. Now, I give them the thumb’s up for the cool name and the amazing tie in here…. Craftyness, like Happiness, just doesn’t happen all on it’s own. It requires us to do something for it, to pursue it and look for opportunities to be Crafty. If you want to take your art to the next level, you have to be willing to step out of your comfort zone and explore unknown territory. The goal isn’t in the destination, it is in the process and the new things you learn along the way that make you Crafty…. The Pursuit of Craftyness has some wonderful projects that will get you on your way!
