I love stepping out of the box and off the page by using photos in non-traditional ways like mixed media and collage. These unique ways of scrapbooking can be meaningful and creative and help expand your artistic legs a bit. Upcycling tins and small metal containers (try mint tins like Altoids or small vintage containers found at the thrift store) can be an interesting base to begin your journey. They are small so they aren’t too intimidating, you can paint, cover in paper or alter them easily with supplies you probably already have on hand and are perfect for projects that require a little depth and layers. Include photos, personal ephemera like tickets, fabrics, buttons, dried flowers, tiles, metal charms and more.
Stampington has had several articles over the years sharing ideas and inspiration for making small photo and art tins with helpful tips and tricks and lovely project samples. I personally love this tiny photo album in a tin created with soldered glass, vintage book papers, eyelets and jump rings.
