12 Scrapbook Layout Ideas with a Single Photo

Kathleen printed out her single photo very large, which obviously helps the pic to stand out but she balanced it on either side for a even proportion. Down one side is her typed journaling and the other is a tall row of ticket embellishments in soft pastels like the photo, since the layout is about crafting and coffee, the accents reflect that theme. Sometimes you’ve taken so many pictures that you need to fill a layout with lots of photos or make multiple pages to fit them all in but then there are times where the photo is so special or you only got that one great shot that you want to create a scrapbook layout that just focuses on a single photo. Today let’s take a look at how to design a layout around just one pic.

The single photo doesn’t need to be large to pull in the eye, Kristin used a large splash die to fill the page but it still pulls you in toward the pic. She cut her die from white cardstock and backed it with colorful Summer pattern paper, adding a thick acrylic title and some pool themed embellishments around the photo. Find more details at the Traci Reed Designs blog.

12 Scrapbook Layout Ideas with a Single PhotoAndrea used a fabulous Las Vegas photo for her travel page, this can be the best pic of the trip or just the first page in a vacation album that sets the tone. She used map paper for the background, stitched for texture, lots of travel chipboard embellishments and included some handwritten journaling. Gloria used beach themed supplies that reflect the colors in her single photo for a wonderful beachy design. She tore some of the paper for wavy dimension and texture, included thick chipboard elements along with some Summery red, white and blue tags too. Take a closer peek at the Simple Stories blog.

The quintessential photo from any trip to a Disney theme park is in front of the castle like Inessa used here. She added several mats behind the photo along with clusters of flowers and you can’t forget that fabulous large castle die backed in pastel and navy pattern papers. Creating smaller layouts like this 6″x8″ beach page from Ashley is a simple way to focus on a single photo with out too much room needed to decorate. She pulled lots of blues from the girls outfits into the design for a harmonious page and perfectly mixed beach and floral designs for a sweet feminine and outdoorsy feel. Special occasions like prom or a wedding have lots of photos taken but pick your favorite shot and do a single special layout like Lacey did here for her son. She chose a pattern paper with a collage style for the background adding die cut and inked pattern paper hexagons over top. Around the pic are floral details and sweet sentiments. I spotted this on the 49th and Market Instagram page.

Traveler’s Notebooks usually only have space for one pic so choose a great one and keep the embellishments simple like Marsha did. Her photo side has some stamping, typed journaling and sentiment circles, the other side has a lot of “white” space with simple woodgrain and a large horizontal title. She breaks it all down at the Cocoa Daisy blog.

Emma’s beautiful layout has a grid of four layered panels of different pattern papers with rounded and deckled edges. Over top she added long floral stems that lean in from both sides that pulls the eye right to the single picture in the center. A few butterflies add nice movement too. Take a closer look at the Hey Little Magpie blog.

Jodi’s darling design has a tiled effect with tiny squares of pattern paper filling the background and quilt inspired dies on either side of the photo with the date and a tile too. Keeping the prints small helps to not overwhelm the design and keeps focus on the photo. Take a closer peek at the Mosaic Moments blog.

Who says you can’t use rainbow pastel colors for dudes? Shanel proves you can with her topical design with a background filled with colorful stitched pattern papers in a rainbow across the back with splashes of watercolor behind. There’s also white open die cut flowers and I love the bold “The Gang” title she used, it’s perfect for the photo! I came across her idea on the Hip Kit Club Instagram page.

This fun birthday page pulls the colors from the pic with an orange to blue gradient of pattern paper strips going down behind the photo. Tonya also included a wide “border” down the side with party embellishments that match the color they are with. Cute sentiments and banners add words that add to the festive feel. Find more info at the Doodlebug blog.

I hope you’ve been inspired today to find the perfect single photo to create a wonderful layout around!
