You always know that school is just around the corner when you can get a box of crayons for a dime and enough glue sticks to last you the entire year for under a buck! Personally, back to school is the best time of the year in my world…..and not because my children are relieved of their summer boredom and I can finally take a shower in peace and get some work done around the studio while they are sitting astutely at their desks. Okay, who am I kidding, I live for those moments and have been counting down the minutes. Seriously though, back to school is really one of those things that gets us in the right mode of thinking….I really do believe, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that those years kids spend in grammar school, in particular, truly are the “wonder years”. They ask questions and really study not because they have to but, because they want to and have this unquenchable thirst for the answer to all those crazy questions they keep conjuring up in their heads. What if, for a moment, we embraced that inner child? What if we stopped to observe the details and asked ourselves, what if? Little children learn through play. They learn about their world and everything in it by getting their hands dirty and experiencing it all firsthand. As a person who creates and preserves their memories, take time to see the world through the eyes of a child and hold on to that wonder and lifetime of learning…get messy and have fun afterall, your handiwork could be right there next to your child’s hanging on the refrigerator.
Found this nifty back to school inspired goodie over on Etsy…..the place to find inspiration and amazingly cool things made by folks who just love to create 🙂
