DIY Christmas Lights Paper Garland

December 16, 2017 by Francine Clouden

Make these fun Christmas Lights paper garlands with glitter card stock, plain card stock scraps, and a mini green garland. Amber from Damask Love shows you how to punch the shapes out, and put this all together.

String it up above your Holiday bar, your mantel, or anywhere you want to have some Christmas cheer. These make great scrapbook embellishments too.

Sara’s teen boy layout has a cool paint burst background behind the photo that she made using Aqua pigments and a fan brush. There’s also torn paper, lots of stars, a vintage clipboard and camera and a title of die cut letters with added pen detailing. Find directions at A Cherry on Top blog.

With Father’s Day being in June (here in the US) it’s a great time to think about working on Masculine layouts for guys of all ages. Today let’s start with ideas for boys and teens. I know masculine designs can sometimes be challenging but start by thinking of using rich darker colors, including of course traditional blues shades, but also greens and browns that just naturally add a more outdoorsy feel for boys who love being outside or consider bright colors and stars for sporty or artistic kids, include embellishments for any activity your boy might be into and try including techniques like splatter, paper tearing and distressed edges for a more rough and tumble feel. Now let’s jump into some cool page inspiration for boys and teens.

A father and son trip to the ocean is captured in this beachy layout with shiplap panel background with blue ink streaks and sentiment stamping. I love all the shapes cut from pattern papers with ocean themed designs and dark cardstocks, there’s also washi tape and domed gems for texture. I spotted this idea on the Speedy Scrapper Instagram page.

Paige used a mix of plaids and patterns in boyish colors for the large die cut title on her teens page. Around each letter she used coordinating colors of stitching for nice texture. There’s also splatter on the background and school related accents for this 9th Grade page design. Find all the details at the Paige Taylor Evans blog.

This sweet Grandfather and Grandson digital layout uses primary colors with a sunrise over a field background, large title and layers of “papers” behind the photos that have unique edges as well as some flowers, proving you *can* use florals on a masculine design. I spotted this idea in the Twizzle 47 gallery at Scrapbook.com.

Jinny’s baseball themed layout has a vintage ledger background with loads of interesting strips behind the photo as well as off to one side. She’s include paper, ribbon, denim, pom pom trim and more, all stitched down with black thread. I love how the journaling looks to be part of the background ledger too, so clever! Here’s a design for an artsy creative boy that has muted colors but lots of pattern and texture from a color wheel, painting supply embellishments, die cut wheels, tickets, tabs, clips and a wide scalloped border. I came across this layout at the Not Just for Boys Instagram page.
