A new article over on the Close to My Heart blog talks about learning to look at scrapbooking layouts and pick up techniques that you can then use on your own designs. For their example they share a beautiful page with a grid design made up of squares of different pattern papers, with stitching between the blocks. Not wanting to cover up the beautiful background a single photo is the focus with a cluster of embellishments to add interest and drawn in the eye. All of these ideas can easily be incorporated into other layouts.
