Add Texture to Scrapbook Layouts with Sewing, Thread and Twine

This colorful layout from Vicki uses stitching to separate this page into 4 blocks. She also wrapped and tied thread around one section and stitched around the view master wheel on another. Embellishing can take your scrapbook layouts to a whole new level. Using threads and twine by themselves or with sewing or stitching can add wonderful color, dimension and texture to your designs. Use your sewing machine, hand stitch, wrap or tie to apply threads, there’s so many different way to incorporate it. So today let’s take a look at some ideas that will add extra pizzaz to your pages.

Becki used gold thread to sew star shapes into punched holes on die cut letters for the title of this darling design. Diana added texture and shapes to the pattern paper pockets on this darling design making them look like real fabric pockets. Fussy cut flowers, a photo and library card fill the pockets. I spotted her design on the Hipkitclub Instagram page.

Gloria added layers of tags sideways down one side of her colorful layout tying each tag with a different color of bakers twine that matched the colors in the tag. Pattern paper and rick rack ribbon have been sewn to the page with different stiches, twine is tied to embellishments and there’s also doilies, a plexi title, wooden embellishments and more. This darling doggo page has lots of circles going down the center made from photos, pattern papers and enamel dots. Behind the circle are three sections of crossed over threads in different blue green shades that create an amazing textured background. I saw this idea on the tachita55 Instagram page.

This adventurous boy page is split in two with the die cut title on one side and rows of stitched down scallops layered with photos and embellishments over top on the other.
