5 Lovely and Quick Ideas for Mother’s Day

May 9, 2018 by Francine Clouden

Mother’s Day always seems to arrive just a little faster than expected, and if you’re looking for a thoughtful handmade gift that doesn’t require a week of drying time or a full craft-room clean-out, these quick Mother’s Day paper craft ideas are a lovely place to start.

This roundup includes five sweet and simple Mother’s Day projects you can make with paper crafting and scrapbooking supplies — including 3D paper flower bouquets, a printable gift card holder, a DIY picture frame, a mini scrapbook for kids, and a pretty tulip card. They’re ideal for last-minute Mother’s Day gifts, classroom crafts, handmade cards, or little memory keeping projects that feel personal without being overwhelming.

What I love about these ideas is that they all have that handmade-with-love feeling. A gift card suddenly feels more thoughtful when it’s tucked inside a pretty printable holder. A simple photo becomes a keepsake when it’s displayed in a handmade frame. And a child’s little scrapbook for Mum? That’s the sort of thing that gets kept in the memory box forever.

5 Lovely Ideas for Mother's Day

If you’ve already got cardstock, patterned paper, glue, scissors, a few printed photos, or some leftover embellishments in your stash, you’re halfway there. And if you want even more inspiration for sentimental handmade gifts, you might also enjoy these Mother’s Day scrapbook layout ideas or these scrapbook layout ideas for Mom. Mother’s Day crafting doesn’t need to be complicated — it just needs to feel thoughtful, and these ideas do exactly that.

These 3D paper bouquets would make a lovely embellishment on a card for mom. Or use when scrapbooking the special day. Learn how to make them with a video tutorial.

80’s Inspired Boombox Shaped Mini Album

I was a teen in the 80’s so this totally rad Boombox shaped mini album from Traci really speaks to me! She created a rectangle shaped black acrylic album with rounded corners, adding buttons and a handle on the top with a cover decorated to look like a real boombox with speakers, a tape deck, buttons and more. She used the Totally 80’s collection of products from Simple Stories that has lots of bright pink and teal colors with cool 80’s inspired patterns like black and white check and colorful graphics. There’s also load of fun embellishments like a Walkman, high top sneakers, retro TV, camera, hair spray can and more.

I had huge hair in the 80’s and am embarrassed to admit how much Aquanet hair spray I used!

Traci has included her totally tubular signature flaps and pockets in the album too for some radical interactive elements too.

Visit the Artsy Album blog to learn more about this bodacious mini album project.
