This amazing layout from Paige has layer after layer of fringed papers for over the top texture! Using a tool like fringing scissors makes this process go faster, try it on cardstock as well as pattern papers. Her pastel color combo is so soft and pretty for Spring. Adding texture and dimension to your scrapbook layouts adds not only a tactile element but also extra interest and complexity for a more dynamic design. This can be achieved by simply adding items that have thickness and texture or for more complicated ideas like popping up accents, folding, bending, embossing or making interactive elements. Today we’ll take a look at some fabulous scrapbook layouts that have wonderful texture and dimension to get you inspired to include some on your next layout.

Below each photo you’ll see a link, click it for more info like tips, tricks and products used.

Nathlie created a terrific background texture for her double page spread by using a small grid stencil along the top. Using blue ink with a heavier hand at the top and then fading as the color goes down creates an ombre’ effect. Using stamped and die cut wreaths and tiny gems also adds more dimension. This frosty snowman layout from Lisa has lots of puffy letter stickers in a unique pattern on his hat and scarf. Notice how she adhered the snowflakes just in the center so the edges curl up a bit and there’s also twists of threads behind them for more texture too. Conny used pretty teal doilies in a grid pattern, adding embellishments on each one, for fabulous texture on this sweet Spring layout. The other side has dimension by tucking several photos, cards and tags in a pocket page. Learn more at the Doodlebug blog.

Nathalie’s colorful pastel rainbow of a layout has nice texture from die cut circles with faux stitching around the edges. But that star of the show are the beautiful butterflies that she included, cutting them twice, placing the darker color under neath and popping up the wings on the top layer. I spotted this design on the Echo Park Paper Instagram page.

Dry embossing is the perfect way to add dimension and texture at the same time. This wonderful woodland layout from Suzanna has cream floral accents she created with cardstock run through an embossing folder and fussy cut out. There’s also pretty stamped ferns, gold foiling, gems and sequins too. Find more details at the Spellbinders blog.

Lisa used white textured cardstock for the background of her sweet Moments page. She created three wide “borders” from pattern paper, drawing lines that look like stitching and curling up the edges of the papers as well as the tips of the flower petals. A chipboard title and brads also add depth. Take a closer peek at the Simple Stories blog.
