The SA Scrapbook Convention will be held in Johannesburg from September 26th to 27th and in Cape Town from October 3rd to 4th. The two-day events will include classes featuring teachers such as Tracie Hudson from Prima, and Melissa Kennedy from Kaiser Crafts. Paper & Co Show, March 27-29, 2009 – Italy: teachers include Céline Navarro, Elsie Flanigan and Emily Falconbridge

Version Scrap, April 3-5, 2009 – France : Part Trade Show, Part Convention, this show is billed as the European Scrapbooking Show.

Create a scrapbook while hiking

The Sierra Club will be leading a hike along the John Muir Trail, Yosemite National Park, California from September 21-25, 2009 that includes a scrapbooking component. Part of the trip involves journaling along the way and creating a scrapbook of the experience.

According to the information on the site,

“the trip is designed for creative hikers interested in translating their nature experience into a book or journal form. With the insightful encouragement of our journal instructor, we will have time to write, draw or collage our way through the northern-most peaks. Early evenings as a group, we can show and share our journals in a non-threatening environment around the dining area. For this trip participating in the journaling process is expected, as well as novice backpacking experience.”

The trip will be lead by Tony Bellaver, and the journaling instructor is Mary V. Marsh. For more information and to sign up please visit the Sierra Club website.

As all Americans know its national scrapbooking day on may 3rd and to celebrate this wonderous occasion there are literally 1000’s of crops, parties and the like going on around the country.

I know you would like me to list them all her by state and city but, really there are literally 1000’s of them…

When will I ever have the time?

My life has been very hectic lately. My children have been exposed to the chicken pox. So I have been waiting with anxious anticipation, on whether they will get the chicken pox or not. They have never had them before. The youngest has been exceptionally grumpy for the last week which has made life and my attitude rather challenging. And I keep thinking to myself, I want to scrapbook, but when will I ever have the time??

So I bring to you all tonight an option, a[tag] weekend retreat[/tag] just for [tag]scrapbooking[/tag]. Now I have to be honest and say I have yet to go on one, but they are sounding more and more like my only option.

My sister-in-law went on one recently and got 12 12×12 pages down. She was very excited. She went with ladies she works with and had a fabulous time.

What I have done for you tonight is to bring to you links that will help you decide if this is the option for you. If it is, then do not waste any time. Book one now. Make yourself a priority. We all need a little time away doing the things we love.
